Sound Stories

Monthly Book Circle

ABOUT

The intuitive in me has always been fascinated by resonance. How do we feel and experience the resonance of sound in our nervous systems? As a meditation teacher I know this resonance as states of being. The deeper the meditation the more peaceful the state of being, the quieter the resonance or internal hum. In this way sound is experienced as a subtle body language we can listen to moment by moment.

Are you curious about sound as a resonance in your body? Are you a reader, someone who journals, meditates or creates and are interested in experiencing sound at a deeper level? Does the immersion of the singing bowls, tuning forks or gongs entice you?

Please read on to discover more about Sound Stories monthly book circle at Ascendant Books…

What to Expect:

Our small group will meet the third Tuesday of each month (for nine months) beginning Sept 22, 2026 at Ascendant Books (105, 10301-124 Street) from 7:00-8:15 pm. Each registered participant will recieve their own copy of the book, “Tuning the Human Biofield,” by Eileen Day McKusick.

Carleen will guide discussion and reflection based on each month’s book chapter, providing equal time for journaling and the experiential integration of sound using singing bowls, tuning forks and other sound based instruments.

Carleen is a Soul Guide, Yoga & Meditation Teacher and Author. She uses insight writing, meditation and yoga as gateways to the Soul’s home frequency.

Her memoir, “Orchid of Fate” describes her spiritual transformation from head to heart. Carleen believes each Soul has a resonance that tunes all parts of the body-mind to it’s field. She has been using sound to teach yoga and meditation classes for over a decade.

This monthly gathering will be equal parts:

a) Listening, feeling and experiencing sound as a resonance in the human body. Carleen will play the singing bowls and use the tuning forks to incorporate various experiencial exercises designed to enhance the experience of sound in the human body.

b) Reflecting & journaling: Carleen will guide a discussion based on the corresponding chapter in, “Tuning the Human Biofield” and give time for reflection, journaling and sharing. As a writer and published author, Carleen invites thought provoking and meaningful conversation. Her approach is known to inspire personal growth, transformation and enjoyment.

c) Guided sharing: Carleen will create a safe and intimate space where each participant has the opportunity to share, while remaining on topic. While sound is used as a healing modality and this class will incorporate the healing resonance of sound, it is not specifically designed as a sound therapy class.

Each monthly circle is intended to provoke a deeper understanding of sound, especially as it relates to experiential knowledge and the human subtle body.

Each month’s focus is based on the corresponding chapter of “Tuning the Human Biofield,” by Eileen McKusick. Each class will share equal parts a) sound experience, b) reflecting and journaling and c) focused sharing.

❋ A Comfortable Space

...”So when we’re thinking about an energy field around the body, it’s not just physical, electromagnetic or biophotonic fields, it’s imbued with mind and that turns it to story. It’s much more profound and not quite part of Western science.”
